8th Annual Harvest 5K

Hundreds of people of all ages gathered at the Ypao Beach Pavilion in Tumon Bay before dawn on Saturday, April 14th. For the eighth year in a row, the Athletic department of Harvest Christian Academy put together a large fund-raising event with all the proceeds going towards the athletics programs of HCA. With help from approximately 100 faculty, staff and students, Holly Novak helped to oversee the event which has become one of the largest 5K runs on Guam. Nearly 1,500 registered and around 1,200 took to the early morning course. This year’s race generated nearly $5,000 in funds for the athletic department making the event a rousing success. As part of the competition, the HCA homerooms competed throughout the week to register the most runners. The final results from the homeroom contest: 1st place-Miss Johnson, 1st grade (261%); 2nd place-Miss Scott, 3rd grade (236%); and Mr. Skogen, 10th grade (208%).
