Harvest House Supply Stash

On Saturday, July 30, over 100 foster children and their families filled the Family Life Center in anticipation of getting a brand new backpack and set of supplies for the new school year. Members of Harvest Baptist Church donated new pens, pencils, crayons, binders, paper, and various other school supplies to fill the 110 backpacks that were also donated by Harvest church families. Upon arrival at the FLC, the foster children were greeted by some of the numerous HBC volunteers and then guided to the location where they were able to select a new backpack of their choice and then proceed to fill it with all of the necessities for the school year. After the children stuffed their backpacks with supplies, they were greeted by many more Harvest House volunteers who aided the families by letting them pick out some clothes, zorries, and toys that were made available by donations from Harvest. Finally, after grabbing some snacks and a bag of popcorn, the families were free to enjoy the bouncer, shoot some hoops, score a goal at the soccer net, grab a balloon animal, get their face painted, or personalize their new school supplies at the craft table. Pastor Herron and Pastor Baldwin welcomed the families to the event and shared the burden that Harvest House has to support the foster families of Guam. It was then a privilege to have the First Lady of Guam, Christine Calvo, express her support for the families as she also announced that each foster child would be receiving a coupon for a free school uniform compliments of the First Lady. Harvest House is looking forward to the next opportunity to lend a hand to the foster families of Guam, so be on the lookout for more events like this one.
