Ravi Zacharias Interview

Tuesday, June 6th, 2017

ravi interview 1x1

On Sunday June 4, Dr. Ravi Zacharias spoke to a record crowd of over 1,000 at Harvest Baptist Church. Ministries from all across the island brought their congregations to hear Ravi’s message. Looking out across the packed Harvest Family Life Center God’s people from over a dozen different cultures and countries were visibly moved to worship God in song, prayer and obedience to the truths from God’s Word. Scores of people responded to the Gospel invitation. Guam has been blessed by the impact of Ravi’s ministry. Afterward, Ravi graciously stayed and encouraged many people that stayed to get a quick picture or a word of encouragement. We wrapped up the night with an interview.

Thank you Ravi Zacharias for your investment in the people of Guam. We pray that the seeds planted this evening will bear much fruit.

Easter 1x1

Our church family was privileged to welcome many guests to an Easter celebration last Sunday. About 1,000 people were in attendance for two special presentations of “Who is this King?,” a narrated musical program focused on the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ.

Guests also enjoyed a continental breakfast between programs.

Pastor Herron wrapped up each session with a gospel presentation, inviting the audience to consider a personal relationship with “this King.”

Men’s Prayer Breakfast – April 8

Friday, April 7th, 2017

aaron-burden-233841

Hafa adai!  I trust your schedule this weekend will include our Men’s Prayer Breakfast tomorrow morning at 8:00.  Bring a friend with you for what has become a wonderful time of fellowship, good food, a challenge from Dr. Dustin Prins as well as time to pray together as men of our church!

This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday.  Together, in our Morning Worship Service, we will be looking at the road to triumph which is so easily forgotten.  The Lord calls us also to crucify ourselves with Christ (Galatians 5:24).  Make a day of it and come for our Family Bible Hour where we will have the opportunity to hear a mission report from Dr. Yoh Shirato on his trip to the Philippines as well as Malaysia.  We will also hear from two of our Harvest Baptist Bible College students as Roland Padock shares his testimony and Klinton Ethuemar preaches.  It will be a great evening together.

Palm Sunday is the start of what, historically, is known as Holy Week.  Next week is one where true believers remember with pain, grief and sorrow all the events that led up to the crucifixion of Christ on Friday.  I hope that each day next week you will take a little extra time to thank Him for the payment He made of giving His own life on the Cross for our redemption as He became our Passover lamb and encourage you to use Good Friday as a day to reflect on all that Christ has done for us.

A week from this Sunday, of course, is our Resurrection Celebration.  We will be having two services at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with a Continental Breakfast in-between them from 9:30-11:30 a.m.  What a great time to take the sadness of the Cross and see it turned into joy, as we celebrate a living Christ.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast – February 25

Men's prayer breakfast2

Dear Men,

Hafa adai!  I trust that you are doing well.  Just a friendly pastoral reminder concerning Men’s Prayer Breakfast tomorrow morning, Saturday February 25th.  We are privileged to have Lawrence Nagengast share a brief challenge and time that we can pray.  For those of you that are bringing your young boys and teens, it is a great “dad and lad” opportunity and creates good memories for the boys in the future.  In advance, I want to thank the men that are helping with the prep as well.

We look forward also to Sunday as we prepare our hearts for Sunday and Mission Conference starting on Wednesday.  Try to rearrange your schedule now and, if applicable, prepare your wife and children.

Henson’s 40th Anniversary

Hensons 40th

Pastor Joe and Garthea Henson celebrated 40 years of marriage and church ministry this past Sunday. Pastor Herron expressed thanks to God for their ministry in our morning service. As he described their work and family, a surprise was standing by.

Sons Joe and Garth were on-island with their wives Kristi and Becky. Their arrival brought tears, hugs, and applause from the church family. Joe, a pastor in North Carolina, and Garth, a technical lead in Seattle, grew up on Guam.

The evening service was a time of celebration and honor. Old friends, church family, sons, and daughters in-law were on hand for the fellowship. Each praised God for His work through Pastor Joe and Garthea on our island.  Pastor Joe Henson III preached and Garth was able to give his testimony. Garth and Becky were also able to sing a special.  See the Sunday evening service video below.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast – January 21

Men's prayer breakfast

Hafa Adai, Men!

Just a manly and friendly reminder about the Men’s Prayer Breakfast tomorrow morning!  I know how we are as men.  It is for us to forget an activity when everything else is going on.  It is particularly true when it is something that can be of such a great value to us and our sons, if we have one.  We would love to have you out on Saturday at 8 a.m. in the Cafeteria.

Many of you who attend on a regular basis know the great food we have been having as well as a short devotional and good time of prayer together.  Mike McCandless will be sharing tomorrow morning.  There’s something about a bunch of men getting together with their boys that is a great encouragement.

I trust you will make it out if at all possible!

In His Service,

Pastor
