Harvest Ministries exists to glorify God by helping people develop a heart for God through evangelizing the unbeliever, edifying the saints, and equipping the soldier. As a ministry we recognize the means that the Holy Spirit utilizes to conform God's people into the image of His Son is the Bible, the precious Word of God.
Since the inception of Harvest Baptist Church in 1975, this ministry has consistently used the King James Version of the Bible. As a ministry, our stand on the inspiration and inerrancy of the Scriptures is well known. We hold to the historical, fundamental view of the verbal-plenary inspiration of the Word of God. In all of our services, classrooms, youth programs, and ministries we use the KJV. We use only the KJV for our teaching, preaching and Scripture memory. But, we do see the value in using the original texts and good translations as Bible study tools.
In an effort to help the large number of English language learners (in Harvest Christian Academy, Harvest Baptist Bible Institute, and Harvest Baptist Bible College) understand the Word of God, we have produced this parallel version of the Scriptures. The KJV is universally accepted for its dignity and the beauty of its use of the English language. The Holy Bible: Easy-to-Read Version ((c) 2006) was originally published as the Holy Bible: English Version for the Deaf and, as a Scripture translation, has been widely used around the globe and acclaimed for its clarity. The goal of these translators was to "convey to their special audience the meaning of the Biblical text in a form that would be simple and natural. They used language that, instead of working as a barrier to understanding, would provide a key to unlock the truths of the Scriptures to a large segment of the English-speaking world." It is the desire of Harvest Ministries to provide a tool to help English language learning Bible students better understand the Word of God.
Our goal is not to replace the KJV, but only to aid in the clear understanding of it. It is our prayer that this volume will help our students to become faithful men and women of God as they understand for themselves the Word of God and the claim of Jesus Christ on their lives.
