Band

20120411-BandSpringConcert-15

HCA’s beginning, middle school and high school bands are highly regarded island-wide for their musicianship, intonation, and performance standards. The bands are under the direction of Miss April Briggs, Miss Kelly Schlarb and Mrs. Michelle Hamilton.

During the 2010-2011 school year, nearly 150 students will be involved in this exciting program.

Orchestra

2012-04-20-Orchestra-01HCA’s strings program has been developing since 2004. Under the direction of Miss Kelly Schlarb, it has grown into a large part of our musical offerings. Groups perform at most all of the yearly concerts and compete in island-wide competitions. Some students are involved in group and private lessons for violin, viola, cello and double bass. With the orchestra program, we have had the pleasure of having a full symphony orchestra to play by combining the strings from the orchestra and the woodwinds from the band.

Choir

2012-05-07-Choir-02The Senior High Choir is taught every Monday, Wednesday and Friday by Mr. Kevin Inafuku.

The Junior High Choir meets two times a week and is directed by Miss Lisa Flower.

The Elementary Honor Choir consists of fourth, fifth and sixth graders and is under the direction of Miss Lisa Flower.

Each choir director emphasizes the fundamentals of music such as sight-reading and minor music composition. The Choir classes have truly taught the students to use their singing talents for the glory of God!
