Meet Our Pastoral Staff

Dr. Marty Herron

Herron1On July 30, 2000, Dr. Marty Herron arrived with his family to fulfill his new duties as pastor of Harvest Baptist Church. For the previous eighteen years he had served at Northland Baptist Bible College in Dunbar, Wisconsin, as Camp Director and eventually as vice-president.

In preparation for full-time ministry, he first attended Western Baptist Bible College. Then he traveled with the Life Action Revival Ministry. Afterwards, he completed a B.A. in church ministries with a minor in speech at Bob Jones University.

He first came to Guam in September 1999 as a Spirit Week speaker to replace his colleague Dr. Sam Horn. During that week he and his wife got a burden for the people of Guam and Micronesia.

He also saw the value of being involved in a pastorate. In January after he returned to Harvest Baptist Church to candidate, the church voted to call him as senior pastor. His desire as he shepherds the congregation is to help people develop a heart for God.

His wife, Tami, had also been involved in Life Action Revival Ministries. During their years at Northland, she taught several Bible and Christian service classes as well as reared their four children, Megan, Misty, Micah and Miles.

Pastor Joe Henson

Henson1aPastor Joe and his wife Garthea first came to the island of Guam in the 1980’s as missionaries. They labored six years as a mission pastor at Pacific Independent Bible Church. After leaving the church in the hands of other missionaries, the Lord led them to Family Baptist Church in Dededo. They faithfully served in that ministry for the next seven years. In the spring of 1999, the Hensons joined Harvest Ministries. Currently, Garthea is the lower elementary principal, and Pastor Joe counsels, teaches adult Sunday school and Harvest Baptist Bible College classes and is on the administrative council for Harvest Baptist Bible College.

Pastor F.G. Homsher

Homsher1Pastor F.G. Homsher met his wife, Melody, as they both served the Lord at Harvest Ministries in 2002. The Lord has truly given both Pastor Homsher and Melody the “desires of [their] hearts.” After graduating from seminary, Pastor Homsher was excited to come to Guam and assist in a cross-cultural ministry. During her years in college, Melody wondered if the Lord would use her education degree on the mission field. God has prepared both Pastor Homsher and Melody for their service here. Along with their children: Stephen, Titus, and Alaya,  they continue to serve the Lord through Harvest Ministries in addition to their pastoral responsibilities.

Pastor Aaron Scott

Scott1Pastor Aaron Scott was born and raised in Denver, Colorado under the ministry of Woodside Baptist Church. Aaron felt God’s call on his life for ministry when he was in elementary school. Throughout his junior high and high school years, God implanted in Pastor Aaron’s heart a passion to see young men and women develop a heart for God. He attended Northland International University (NIU), where he played the sports of soccer and wrestling, and where he received his BA in Biblical Studies. He is currently finishing up his MA through the NIU Graduate School. Aaron and Elizabeth Tann were married in December and are now serving the Lord together at Harvest.

Mr. Kevin Inafuku

Inafuku1

Kevin Inafuku, Minister of Music at Harvest Baptist Church, graduated from Bob Jones University in 2000 with a degree in Church Music. Following his graduation he struggled with whether God would call him back to Hawaii where he was born and raised, but God directed his steps to travel with the Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team. Traveling from 2000-2003, Kevin was able to direct the team’s music and run the children’s meetings each night. God, through His sovereignty, allowed Kevin to meet Pastor Marty Herron, who is a very good friend of Steve Pettit. Kevin was able to visit Guam right after Super Typhoon Pongsona and was convinced God was leading him there.  The islands have always been in his heart, and Harvest Ministries resonated with his passion to know God and to help others know Him. After seven years of service leading the worship ministry at Harvest, Kevin married Misty Herron, daughter of Pastor and Mrs. Herron. Misty graduated from Northland International University and is teaching in the K-3 department of Harvest Christian Academy. Together, Kevin and Misty have a huge desire to serve God in the islands and to help the people of Guam develop a heart for God.

Pastor Don Eckert

Eckert1

Don and his wife Tessie both trusted Jesus as Savior on Guam in 1985 and have been members at Harvest Baptist Church since that time. The Lord used the circumstances surrounding Typhoon Paka in 1997 to call Don to the pastorate and to start Guahan Baptist Church in the southern part of the island. Besides pastoring, Don currently teaches for both Harvest Christian Academy and Harvest Baptist Bible College and serves as part of the pastoral team at Harvest. Tessie works in Harvest’s accounting department and serves in the AWANA program. They both have a strong desire to see the people of Guam develop a heart for God through a personal relationship with Him.
