Frequently Asked Questions
We want you to feel welcome at Harvest Baptist Church. Below are some frequently asked questions:
What time are our services? Sunday morning worship begins at 10:30am in the church auditorium. Sunday School, known as Adult Bible Fellowships and the Greenhouse Program for children, begins at 9:30am, with classes available for all ages. The Family Bible Hour, our Sunday evening service, begins at 6:00pm in the auditorium. For Wednesday night, we offer a variety of programs, with Heart for Christ for teens and Awana for two years old through sixth grade starting at 6:30pm and the other programs starting at 7:00pm including a mid-week prayer meeting plus other classes for adults.
What do I do once I get to Harvest Baptist Church? We have a Welcome Center set up right outside our HeBrews Cafe and Bookstore on Sunday mornings. You will find helpful people who will be glad to answer any questions and direct you where to go.
What options are available for my children? On Sunday morning, there are Sunday School classes for newborns up through high school. We also offer a Super Church program for K5 through sixth grade. On Wednesday night, we offer Awana for two year olds up through sixth grade and a program for teenagers called “Heart for Christ.”
What about my youngest children? The Harvest Baptist Church Nursery provides love and care to all children. Nurturing volunteers help with the care of each child during every service. We provide a clean, safe, and comfortable atmosphere for the children to play, rest, and eat. The infant room (0-12 months) is equipped with swings, walkers, highchairs, bouncers, and beds. The Walker room (12-24 months) is designed to give the children ample room to play inside with an inviting atmosphere of a beautiful garden mural as well as a covered outside area with slides and tricycles. During church, these children will be introduced to Jesus by singing Bible songs on DVD and coloring a Bible story. Our toddler room (2-3 year olds) includes a huge covered outside playground area and a spacious updated room with lots of toys. Every service the children have a scheduled time of playing outside, snacks and water break, story, songs, coloring, and using the potty or changing diapers.
Where can I park? There is guest parking provided by the church building. It is the first row of parking spaces closest to the auditorium.
What do I do before the service starts? If you arrive before the service starts, you will notice that our auditorium is filled with comfortable pews. There are no reserved seats, so you may sit anywhere. Many people will be greeting one another during this time.
What are the services like? Services generally last about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Our worship services are a time of joyful worship and praise, with a focus on congregational worship. Pastor Herron gives Bible-based messages lasting 30-45 minutes. His messages are timely and applicable. Audio CDs of the message are also available as well as video and audio downloads online.
How will I know when to stand? The pastor or the music director will ask the congregation to stand or sit. Generally we stand while singing and during times of public prayer.
Do you give public invitations at the end of the service? What are they like? At the end of his message, Pastor Heron invites anyone who does not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to accept Him. This is also a time for personal prayer with God over changes we may need to make in our lives. Counseling is also available for spiritual needs.
Do I need to donate money when I visit? Harvest Baptist Church does believe tithing is a Biblical principle and we do encourage it. However, our guests should not feel any obligation to participate. We would request that, as a guest, you would fill out a Guest Information card, and we would ask you to drop it in the offering plate.
What happens after the service? On Sunday morning, we truly want to meet our guests. One of the ways we can meet guests is for you join us in the HeBrews Cafe and meet one of the Pastors where guests receive a free tea or coffee as a thank you for visiting.
