Harvest Missions Conference
The Harvest Baptist Church Missions Conference wrapped up a great week of meetings on Thursday night with a powerful message from keynote speaker Dr. Jim Schettler on the topic “Trust in the Lord.” Pastor Schettler challenged the church by using the illustration of the children of Israel at the Red Sea to point out that there comes a time where God just wants you to go–to obey–before He will show you the next step. Throughout the week Pastor Schettler spoke on topics such as “The Holy Spirit and Missions,” “The Lord, the Lad, and the Lunch,” and “The Most Important Word in Prayer.” Missionary Peter Blake of Australia was also a part of the conference and shared an update on Tuesday evening. Throughout the week, a group of Seniors from Valley Christian Academy in California ministered to children during a special program each night in the Family Life Center. The purpose of this year’s conference was to help inform people of the responsibilities of the local, regional, and global commission in Acts 1:8, to ignite a passion to be willing to surrender to the Lord(Acts 13:4, II Cor. 8:5), and to instill a need for giving to Faith Missions Giving (II Cor. 8:10-11). Although the conference is over, those in attendance were challenged, hopefully changed, and will never be the same.
