Guam’s Youth Meet at Harvest for Tourism Summit

Former Guam Delegate to the U. S. House of Representatives and current President of the University of Guam, Dr. Robert Underwood, addresses the Summit on Thursday
The Family Life Center of Harvest Ministries was filled with young people from a variety of schools all across Guam on Wednesday and Thursday, January 27 and 28. Buses began arriving before 9am each day as students filed into the FLC for the Annual Youth Tourism Summit of the Tourism Education Council. Hundreds of 4th-6th graders attended the summit on Wednesday and learned about Guam’s culture, the importance of protecting the islandss marine life, thriving with cultural differences and more. Thursday, a number of Middle School and High School students listened to and took part in lively debate on topics involving the environment, the impact of the military on Guam, and other timely issues affecting Guam and the island’s tourism. Although the summit was coordinated by the Tourism Education Council, Harvest was able to provide the facilities, technology, and food for the two day event. This is the second island conference to utilize the facilities of Harvest Ministries this school year as Harvest continues to look for ways to reach out and be a help to the island community.
