Unforgettable Fiesta Picnic at the Beach
July 5, 2009: Hundreds of people made their way to USS Beach for a special July 4th Weekend Fiesta at the Beach with Harvest Baptist Church. There was a possibility the event would have to be moved as overcast skies and a threat of rain loomed in the distance. Finally, the decision was made to go forward with the event. Tents, chairs, and audio equipment were set up, and a variety of food set out, as the church family gathered together for a time of delicious food, fellowship, and a time of singing with the guitar and ukelele choir. Josh Plonk, special guest for Junior week at Guahan Christian Camp, entertained the children with some tricks. The rain started to look like more of a possibility as summer intern Josh Kaighen started to share from God’s Word. At that point, the heavens opened, and some serious rain began to fall. Josh did his best to be louder than the rain. Eventually, he had to shorten his message so everyone could begin to pack up and head home. Although the event ended a bit early and everyone got a little (or a lot) wet, it was still a great and unforgettable time. Everyone will remember this fiesta at the beach for a long time!
