HCA Commencement
May 22, 2009: The Family Life Center was packed with over 1,000 family, friends, and faculty as the Harvest Christian Academy Class of 2009 graduated on Friday night. The class of 2009 was the first graduating class to be able to utilize the new Family Life Center which helped to provide a more festive atmosphere and larger seating capacity. The HCA Select Band began the ceremony with “Pomp and Circumstance” as fifty-eight graduates made their way down the center of the FLC gymnasium. Once on stage, a number of the graduates were recognized for their years at HCA while some also were recognized for academic achievement and scholarships. Approximately eighty colleges and universities around the world have accepted graduates from this year’s class at HCA. Salutatorian David Law and Valedictorian Tianyi Miao addressed the graduates and guests and were then followed by Dr. Larry Oates (Dean, Maranatha Baptist Seminary) the guest speaker for this year’s commencement. Then it was time for each graduate to receive their special moment of recognition. After a brief photo montage of each graduate, HCA Principal John McGrew would announce their name as the graduate would receive their diploma from Pastor Marty Herron and Principal Doug Abels and then head into the crowd to be congratulated by family and friends. This memorable event in the Family Life Center marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next for the fifty-eight graduates. Congratulations to the HCA Class of 2009.
