Fun in the Sun…and the FLC
Friday, April 17, 2009: Combine hundreds of laughing, screaming students with a variety of athletic events and carnival games. Then toss in lots of fun, food, prizes and of course, a good dose of sunshine and what do you have? You have another great Harvest Christian Academy Field Day. The day begins early on Friday morning with a parade of elementary classes led by the first graders in their blue t-shirts participating in their very first field day, followed by students in yellow, purple, green, and red. The 6th graders in orange march in last as they prepare for their very last field day. After pledges and prayer, the competition gets under way with class events like Tug-O-War and Sack Races plus individual events for every student like Football Toss, 30 and 50 yard dashes, Javelin Throw, Shot Put, Discus, and more! After a morning of competition and ribbons being awarded, it was time for lunch with the Junior Class of HCA providing hot dogs, pizza, chips, and cookies. And this year, for the first time ever, the carnival games took place in the cool confines of the Family Life Center gymnasium. Parents and guests enjoyed the day as well rooting for the students and watching them enjoy the games. After collecting prizes based on the tickets won during the carnival games, students and parents headed home after a tiring yet memorable and great Field Day 2009.
