Resurrection Sunday at Harvest
“He shall arise the Son of Glory shining. He shall arise triumphant over death. Our living hope. Our source of life eternal. He is the Promised King and Blessed One. Jesus shall reign, Messiah, Lord, and King!” Those words rang out as Harvest Baptist Church celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ with special services in the morning and evening on Easter Sunday. The morning service began with a delicious light breakfast in the chapel of the Family Life Center. After church members and guests enjoyed coffee, donuts and more, everyone gathered in the main auditorium of the Family Life Center for a time of singing, special music by the HBBI students, church choir and orchestra. Pastor Marty Herron then shared how the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus was the fulfillment of God’s promise. Later that same day, the church choir and orchestra presented the powerful visual and musical portrayal of the events of that first Easter with the cantata entitled “He Shall Arise.” Under the musical direction of Kevin Inafuku (HBC Music Minister) and Mary Geiman (HCA Drama Faculty), the choir and orchestra provided the musical backdrop as actors portrayed how quickly people turned from welcoming Christ with palm branches to crying for His crucifixion. The cantata concluded with songs of victory including the joyous reminder that “It is finished, He has done it. Life conquered death, Jesus Christ has won it!” For photos from Easter at Harvest Baptist Church, be sure to CLICK HERE.
