FLC: Gymnasium Floor Update
Although the Family Life Center will be used for multiple purposes (hence the original name–Multiplex), one of the most anticipated areas of the new building will be the brand new gymnasium. For years and years church members and especially school parents and students have longed for a home court for athletic events. That long awaited dream took another step closer to reality as the gym floor was recently installed.
The contractor spent several days working with a special leveling cement compound to bring the floor into a very small tolerance in preparation for the final playing surface.
Because the floor topping has to be extremely dry for the playing surface to adhere properly, it was necessary to run the air conditioning at cold temperature around the clock. This will help bring out the moisture from the concrete. Work continues on getting the conditions just right so the final Teraflex flooring can be installed.
The dividing curtain was also prepared and installed. The curtain will be used in order to allow multiple events to go on in the gymnasium area of the FLC at the same time.
Work on the FLC continues inside on the classrooms, chapel, and excercise room. Look for a new update on the FLC progress each week.
