Friday, December 19, 2008: The final concert of the Christmas season provided the perfect setting for concluding the school year.  The High School Choir, under the diretion of Mr. Kevin Inafuku, began the evening singing “Everywhere Christmas Tonight.”  Whether that was the case or not, it was definitely Christmas in the auditorium at Harvest during the entire concert.  Mr. Jeff Borchardt, narrator for the night of music, shared interesting background stories and tidbits about many of the selections including “Somewhere in My Memory” as well as the difficulty about singing about winter before “Winterlight.”  Miss Kelly Schlarb then directed the Advanced Orchestra in selections such as “Journey of the Magi” and “Bells and Pizzicato.”  A number of woodwind and brass instruments joined the orchestra to perform as a symphony for the first time in school history.  Those in attendance who heard the beautiful music they performed during the “Ukranian Bell Carol” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” left hoping that tonight was just the first of many performances for the HCA Symphony.  The concert of incredible Christmas music continued with the Select Band, again under the direction of Mr. Kevin Inafuku, performing “A Cambridge Carol,” “Away in a Manger” among others.  The Select Band ended the evening with the perfect selection, a medley of music from “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Although you can no longer hear the delightful music performed on this night, you can check out a variety of photos when you CLICK HERE.

Harvest Christian Academy Junior High Choir

Friday, December 5, 2008: Parents, students, HCA faculty and staff, and guests were amazed when they walked into the Harvest auditorium on this Friday night to find it transformed into the perfect setting for a Christmas concert with an amazing assortment of decorations and lights.  After letting their eyes take in the beauty of the Christmas decorations, everyone was treated to a night of Christmas music from the Junior High Choir and Band and the Senior High Band.  The Junior High Choir, under the direction of Miss April Briggs, began the evening with a number of Christmas songs and evoked smiles and laughter with their final selection–a rendition of “The Twelve Days After Christmas.”  After a brief intermission, the Junior High and Senior High Bands, under the direction of Mrs. Michelle Hamilton, continued the evening of Christmas music with selections like “Jingle Bell Jamboree,” “A Christmas Proclamation,” “Holiday Cheer,” and “Fantasia on a Christmas Carol.”  To enjoy a variety of photos of all the students who performed, CLICK HERE.  You can also enjoy more music in person as the HCA concerts continue in the community this week at the Agana Shopping Center on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1:30 p.m.  The final HCA Christmas concert featuring the High School Choir, Select Band, and Advanced Orchestra will take place in the auditorium on Friday, December 19th, at 7 pm.
