Annual Staff Christmas Celebration
Saturday, December 6, 2008: As the sun set on a beautiful Saturday on Guam, the Harvest Faculty and Staff gathered together at Tutujan (Triangle) Park in Agana to enjoy a refreshing, encouraging, and fun time of food, fellowship, skits, music, and more food! Everyone began to gather around 6 pm and after dropping off their presents for the gift exchange at “Santa’s Boonie Sleigh,” sat down at one of the many tables around the park. While waiting for the time to get in line for delicious rice, ribs, and chicken catered by a local restaurant, everyone decorated the tree in the middle of each table for a Christmas tree decorating contest. After dinner, the winners were announced and the table that transformed their tree into a reindeer and sleigh won easily. Those passing by Triangle Park most likely heard much laughter at that point as it was skit time. Holly Novack and Robin Johnson showcased their “Christmas Crisis Center” with a slew of events that, although funny, unfortunately for the operators of the crisis center were NOT a crisis. Then Janelle Mitchell hosted the first annual Boom Whacker Christmas Carol contest with each department attempting to work together to play a Christmas carol with mulitple colored and unique sounding plastic sticks. Santa, or someone who looked a lot like Pastor Jared, with his two “Intern Elves” helped to hand out all the gifts for the Christmas gift exchange. A brief time of singing and a challenge were followed by delicious dessert and Christmas cards. Special thanks to all the crew who helped to plan, decorate, and assist during this wonderful event that is a time of encouragement and showing of appreciation for the incredible group of talented people God has brought to Harvest.
