Anniversary Sunday at Harvest Baptist Church
Sunday, October 5, 2008: Harvest Baptist Church celebrated thirty-three years of ministry on the island of Guam with a special schedule of services including a delicious fiesta lunch. During the morning worship service, the congregation viewed a brief video montage looking back at the history of Harvest since the mid-1970’s. Pastor Herron then shared a message on ways the church can demonstrate “Following in the Steps of Christ.” After the morning service, everyone headed to the cafeteria for sumptuous meal including chicken, beef, rice, potatoes, and a variety of side dishes that could only be provided by a diverse group of people living on Guam. The Family Bible Hour was moved up to 1:30 p.m. and featured the guitar and ukelele choir and a number of songs by the students of Harvest Baptist Bible Institute from their new CD “Lead Me, O Lord.” Just before baptizing Inhyong Chang and Marlynn Alex, Pastor Herron reminded everone of the two primary functions of the church–to exalt the King and expand the kingdom. As the those in attendance looked back over the past thirty-three years, very few could probably remember all the way back to the beginning of the ministry in July of 1975, but all in attendance could testify that the hand of God has been and continues to be on the ministry of Harvest Baptist Church.
